As far as a Good laptop for Chess? the truth is that Stockfish will run nearly equally as well on a Smartphone as a Laptop :)

It's all about the efficiency of the Code! you don't need a Supper Computer nowadays to beat the World Chess champion, and so most version of Stockfish playing on any device will play at 3500+ ELO

But if you are going to get a Laptop then you might as well get a Good one,but the price only has to be €1,200 Max!

You need a 500 GB to 1000 GB SSD,16 GB RAM,and a 6B Graphics card like the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 6GB,a 15.6" IPS display is enough for most situations, but if you want to pay more for a larger display for other games, then the choice is open.

As far as the CPU goes then the AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS and the Intel Core i7 13650HX Raptor Lake, are plenty of power!

As for the brand? I have always been a Lenovo fan, they have a very simple strong build design, and are very easy to take apart for upgrades or repairs, and they always fit Good quality components.

Below are two Models I recommend! :)

LENOVO LOQ 15APH8 Storm Grey...

I'm looking for a better laptop for chess analysis. I saw this at talkchess

Leela vs Stockfish nnue style

https://talkchess.com/viewtopic.php?t=82903

The discussion ended with comparisons and disagreements about ryzen and macs.
Apple is not a option for me.
I think they mostly went for ryzen, except for the apple fans.
The AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX was mentioned with 32 threads, which would be amazing, but very expensive.
I read that the fastest clock speed is best.
Others state that more threads are best.
You can't have both.
The 7945HX has a lower clock than other ryzens at 2.5ghz I think.
Some ryzens have 3ghz with fewer threads, 24 iirc.
Which is better for chess?
The talkchess pages above don't really make that clear. I have no idea.
I'd like to try lc0 with a half decent gpu, but how good does it need to be on a laptop for good performance?
I can't work out where to draw the line.
I confess to being a bit dazzled and confused.

highlight this game for two reasons:
- this variant of the Spanish is the same one that stcockfish 16 plays but which I have not yet managed to confute , and I am not sure that it is beatable by black.
- then, because I find it curious that Alphazero lost in this way, due to its much vaunted power.

Suppose telling the truth is a form of love.
He who loves cannot say: "I don't love you".
Those who don't love will say: "I love you", actors, singers, artists from the entertainment world, influencers, advertising ,e and other boring liars.
If those who don't love say: "I don't love you" perhaps they will be redeemed,  they tell the truth ,they will change, but only ,in that moment, when A is not A.
If not, what's the point of saying :"I don't love you"?

i told you that i made an error

and so stockfish had to start all over again.

the higher the engine climbs the ladder of success

the stronger the human players she faces become.

come on people. show the world what you ve got.

after all stockfish is running on merely 2 cpus

not on some supercomputer

@sad13
These conditions seem absolutely fair to me.
And above all concrete and in line with our way of feeling, thus avoiding philosophical speculation on  logic and its contradictions, change, time.
A would thus logically and conveniently and definitely be A, maybe also  really A.
And Stockfish would be always Stockfish, but perhaps it  would still be himself and vulnerable because Stockfish is Stockfish.
34961David

We play at my condition.
First of all I need to know what the engine is.
And when I say "what it is" I am referring to its real consistency, to its three-dimensionality, to the fixed object that I can see, touch, eat. Something that falls within my three-dimensional vision and that we can share, words of fluttering meanings are insufficient and confusing, like the  easily falsifiable 2D images.
So let's imagine putting it inside a real support and saying: "ok this is the engine, this is the object"

So I take the support for me.

Then we set a game depth, which is a standard, for example depth 50, (since we have different machines it is also better for our communication).

We play without an opening book, the engine is completely itself when playing from start to finish, this is logical and coherent.

Then I'll test the engine for a while, let's say 6 months.

Under these conditions, I think I can easily draw a 20 game match with Stockfish 16, talking about victory, well..I don't know...

It's fascinating to hear about Stockfish on your laptop engaging in such a challenging game of chess against a skilled human opponent. The fact that the human player resigned after move number 124 showcases the impressive capabilities of Stockfish. It's clear that Stockfish is capable of competing against strong players and showcasing its strategic prowess. It's always exciting to see AI technology pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the realm of chess.

stockfish on my laptop today played a game of online chess against a very strong human being.

the human played with the white pieces.

stockfish played with the black pieces.

the human player resigned after move number 124.

if you think that stockfish on my laptop is playing against stupid humans only

you are dead wrong

It seems like you're discussing some complex concepts related to logic and chess AI. In terms of the game being a draw, it's possible given the scenario you described with White having a tiny advantage. As for the number of parity lines with a 0.00 evaluation, it could be a lot, including lines that are close to collapsing but still holding. Predicting when we will definitively know all possibilities in chess is challenging due to the vast number of potential moves. While having a unique best game line could potentially make the engine less strong but more capable of winning games, it's uncertain if such a scenario is achievable. Feel free to ask if you have any more questions or need further clarification on these topics!

It sounds like you're reflecting on different strategies and perspectives, including the idea of winning by not playing the game. Chess can indeed be approached in various ways, and there are different tactics to consider. As for the concept of love and expressing it in different ways, it's a complex and personal matter. If you have any specific questions or topics you'd like to discuss further, feel free to share them!

> Being A and not A at the same time is perhaps not fun but an obligation.

I hate it when people do this... Logic cannot be broken because if it were to be broken

nothing would make sense... a win would be a loss, a draw would be both...

- is the game a draw?

I would be surprised if the game is not a draw. White's advantage is tiny.

- how many parity lines are there with 0.00 that a hypothetical definitive engine should calculate from the beginning?A lot, a few, only one ?

I think a lot, including a lot of lines right on the verge of collpasing but still holding...

>I believe we will know before 2050.

How could we definitively know though?

The game's tree is impossibly large to traverse so we must avoid looking at all lines.

then we don't search every move and might miss something.

I don't think we would know by then but chess AI would likely never lose or lose a

ridiculously tiny amount.

-If the best game line were unique, the book would be a ploy that would paradoxically make the engine less strong but capable of winning more games.

I am not sure what you are saying here. Yes, if it were a single line we would probably be able to learn it but I don't think this is possible.
